The Artist

Art by Gail Jerauld Bos has been exhibited in galleries, museums, public art spaces. Her work is in the permanent collection of the Board of Trustees of the DeCordova Museum, the Lowell Historic Preservation Commission, and The Museum of the National Center of Afro-American Artists. Gail is the recipient of numerous awards including “Best of Show” for paintings and mixed media works.

Gail began painting and print making in 1992 after three years in Peace Corps-Mali, West Africa. These works reflected her interest in the cultural values in Malian life. Now Gail works with the conflicting values in her own culture: good will / a tolerance for violence, equality / individual freedom, democracy / capitalism, peace / justice.

Most of her work starts with a simple and direct printmaking process: rolling ink or brushing oil paint on a Plexiglas plate. Days or maybe years pass before she works with that image – something inspires her to begin and the old image is transformed into a new piece that is ready to show.

This website has images of my paintings, prints, installations.

My work mystifies me – what happened and how did that image emerge?

As you look you may also wonder.

My hope is the art will please and interest you.
